Cramlington School Sports Partnership Sustainability
Here at Shanklea we are one of the schools in a cluster, creating The Cramlington School Sport Partnership.
The activities of the Cramlington School Sport Partnership are focused on using the Sport Premium wherever possible to create sustainable improvements in PE and School Sport across Cramlington:
Upskilling Staff: opportunities to develop staff skills, knowledge and confidence in the delivery of the following areas PE:
- PE Subject Specialism (Level 5 certificate)
- Tag rugby
- KS1 Multiskills
- Hula Hooping
Community Links: creating meaningful links between the primary schools and the following community clubs, where coaches deliver in schools, or children are taken to the club for School Games competitions. Pupils are signposted to opportunities at these clubs:
- Cramlington Rockets Rugby League
- Cramlington Community Tennis Programme
- Cramlington Cricket Club
- FA Skills
- Newcastle United Foundation
- Cramlington Vikings Basketball (Newcastle Eagles)
- Northern Gymnastics Club
- Cramlington Community Judo Club
- Arcot Hall Golf Club
Health & Well Being: the development of Sports Leaders, skipping and hula-hooping have increased physical activity in school playgrounds. Schools have the resources necessary, with teachers able to deliver these programmes, creating sustainability for the future.
Partnership working: 7 primary schools work together, networking and sharing to help create the Cramlington School Sport Partnership programme. We also work with Cramlington Learning Village, creating a sustainable network of support for the primary schools.
Some of the activities, programmes and support we are able to provide with the Sport Premium would not be sustainable without further funding or passing on the costs to the pupils.
Shanklea enjoys being a part of the Cramlington School Sport Partnership however, we ensure that this is not the only sports activities and enriching opportunities we offer to our children. We are very proud hold Sport high up in the curriculum and ensure it is a high agenda. We have created our own community links, with the following organisations:
*Silksworth Ski outdoor adventure.
*NUFC curriculum coaching programme.
*Voss Norway Skiing opportunities.

This current academic year has been one of Shanklea’s most successful sporting years to date. Shanklea Primary School has recently been award the Gold Sainsbury School Games Kite mark. We celebrated in style holding a Mini-Olympic sports day. The children were involved in Brazilian themed workshops to promote cultural awareness and then took part in competitive traditional sports day races. Great fun was had by the teachers, children and of course the parents!
