Food Enterprise

Food Enterprise is a strength of Shanklea Primary School and through numerous initiatives monies have been raised over time.

During Food Technology lessons Year 6 supported the charity 'Send a Cow'. Parents and relatives were challenged to live below the line for five days on budget meals costing under £1 per person per day.

Send a Cow Education brings the real world into the classroom, to strengthen the curriculum and to embed global learning. It empowers a wider school community helping pupils to understand the world and how they can make a positive difference, locally and globally.

Year 6 Enterprise was supported by Virgin Money Make £5 grow, a young enterpreneur scheme funded and delivered in partnership with Mrs Hall, Virgin Money Enterprise Coordinator. The pupils also planned and prepared a food and craft market, selling fresh home made produce and crafts from China, Italy, USA, Mexico, Spain and India.
