Important Online Safety Warning Snapchat Location Tracker

30th June 2017
We would like to share some important information with parents that we have discussed with our older children this week. There has been a recent Location Tracking update on Snapchat that allows users to follow their friends’ locations and have their own location followed by their friends.
Clearly, this information could represent a potential risk to children’s safety if it were to fall in to the wrong hands. Any parents whose children use Snapchat can protect their child by ensuring that the settings are set to “Only me (ghost mode).”
This prevents other people from tracking your location. Please note that you have to zoom out of the screen on the camera to access this part of the app. We strongly advise that parents continually monitor children’s use of the internet and apps that their children use.
