Proposed Cycling trip to Amsterdam

3rd February 2017
At Shanklea Primary School, we motivate our children to choose a more active and healthier life and encourage cycling as it develops their confidence and promotes their spirit of adventure.
We are proposing that later in year, depending on ferry availability and interest, members of the ‘Cycle Crew’ and some parents could take part in a short cycle adventure in Holland. We would travel on the Newcastle-Ljmuiden ferry having cycled from Cramlington to North Shields.
Cycle touring in the Netherlands is incredibly easy. There is a relaxed feel and lots of bikes around making cyclists feel welcome. Courteous drivers, fantastic infrastructure and car-sized lanes dedicated to bikes on roundabouts make it a very safe place to ride with children. The intention is to also visit Dutch cultural centres: such as the Van Gogh museum to really enrich the experience.
If this trip appeals to you or your child, please contact the Main School Office and confirm your interest with Mrs McConnell.
