Road Safety Week

17th November 2017
Road deaths are the biggest accidental cause of deaths of children and young people. We can help prevent injuries by giving children the knowledge, skills and attitudes to help prevent accidents and stop them being hurt. That is why we are encouraging everyone to Speed Down Save Lives for Road Safety Week 2017 (20th-26th November 2017.) We can all play our part in raising awareness about the dangers of driving too fast and this year's campaign will focus on:  Excess speed causes deaths and serious injuries on our roads  20mph is the only safe speed in heavily built-up areas used by pedestrians and cyclists  Going slow = stopping in time  Speeding is scary and noisy. It stops communities being enjoyable places for children and families to walk, talk and play  Speed cameras work. They save lives. We can all do our bit by observing speed limits and taking care when driving, particularly near children. Children need to be aware of the dangers around vehicles. They will take part in lots of fun and educational activities next week.
