Shanklea Mini Police

18th June 2021
Shanklea Mini Police took part in their final assignment this week. Our Mini Police programme is run with Northumbria Police. It helps children to learn about policing priorities, increase confidence and reduce any perceived barriers. The children took part in a Speed Check and Advice patrol on Station Road this week. The children used the speed gun to check the speed of the cars which were passing. If the car was going above 20mph the children questioned the driver about their speed and the police officer reminded them that the fine for speeding is £100 and 3 points on your driving license. Some of the drivers were doing 32mph in a 20mph area! The drivers were very relieved to only receive advice on their speed rather than any fines.
