Shanklea School Sports 2017

14th July 2017
Shanklea School Sports Week 2017 was a huge celebration of everything that is great about PE and school sport, with all our children invited to take part. Some very warm weather greeted us on Wednesday morning and afternoon - a welcome change…
The Early Years classes were outside and raring to go, despite the hot weather. Lots of colour, lots of enthusiasm and lots of cheer! We had running races, egg on spoon races, bean bags and hurdle races. Thank you to everyone who came along to cheer us as we ran our races.
On Wednesday afternoon, a football tournament for our Key Stage 2 children, was hosted and organised by our sporty, young Sports Leaders. They helped out with the umpiring, score keeping, running drills and warm ups…
Congratulations to Bamburgh and Lindisfarne castles who won the new football trophies. On Friday morning, Year 1 and Year 2 classes worked through an activity circuit, demonstrating their running, jumping and balancing skills. It was an extremely fun and exciting morning!
During our Key Stage 1 and 2 Picnic Lunch on Friday Shanklea teachers and staff came together to compete in a Rounders’ match and sprint relays… At the end for the extravaganza: that was the Parent/Teacher race! The children watched in awe as their mums, dads and teachers raced across the short sprint course. Well done to all who took part and thank you to all parents, teachers and Years 5 and 6 for helping to make the events such a success.
