Skills to Shine

Pupils across the school have been involved in setting up and running enterprise schemes with support from the Shanklea Teachers and Parents’ Association and the ‘Skills To Shine’ Scheme (www.skillstoshine.co.uk).

Pupils learnt how to set up and run a company, selling shares to get money to start buying materials. Using avoting system pupils undertook roles within the company, for example Finance Director and Secretary. Pupils suggested products we could make and sell and developed ideas for providing a service.

30 KS2 students aged 9-11 will get further experience of becoming mini apprentices at work through the Virgin Money’s ‘Make £5 Grow’ scheme. Thanks to Mrs Esther Hall, Vice Chair of Governors for connecting us to the scheme, ensuring that each child as part of the young entrepreneurs scheme is given a five pound note each and in 9 weeks’ time turn it into profit!!!!
