Fighting for Every Heartbeat

You may remember watching the footage of Fabrice Muamba collapsing on the pitch in 2012 and then so many more heart breaking stories unfolded of these fit, young, healthy people being taken far too soon. This is the UK's biggest killer, killing 100,000 every year, 15 young people every week.

Shanklea Primary School in Cramlington teamed up with a local charity Hearts and Goals (in Cramlington) to raise funds to get a defibrillator in school. One of our parents Mr Eric Adams ran the London Marathon and we had a Healthy Heart day which involved lots of fund raising activities.

Shanklea Primary School are now proud owners of a Defibrillator and our so proud of our communities achievements to help to do this. Having a defibrillator in school increases the chances of survival to between 70 and 90 percent, we just hope other schools can follow in our footsteps. We would like to say a massive thank you to Mr Adams for your continued support not only in school but, to other sporting clubs and schools in our area. We would also like to say a big thank you to the charity Hearts and Goals.
