STEM Week 16th-20th March 2020

Stem week is here at last . STEM stands for Science Technology, Engineering and Maths and our school theme is 'a
diverse and better world'.
At Shanklea, we will be considering our diverse and beautiful planet and how to make it a better place for us all. Each
year group has a series of interesting activities planned. More details of what is happening in each year group can be
found below.
We are all very excited for STEM week in EYFS. To go along our whole school theme of ‘creating a better world’ we
will be starting our growing project in the giant poly tunnel on our school field. We will be talking about how to be
healthy and become self sufficient by growing a selection of different kinds of vegetables.
KS1 pupils will be rolling their sleeves up and getting their hands dirty so they can 'grow' a better world. The children
will culture a "better me" and a "better environment" so they can thrive in a healthier world.
Year 3 will be whizzing, fizzing, bubbling and stirring to their hearts content. Can you guess what they will be doing?
Wait and see the final product on Friday. We can almost smell STEM week! Hope you enjoy your sweet little treat!
Year 4/5 will need to pack their kitbags and get ready as they are going on the adventure of a lifetime - but first they
need their explorer license. Can they pass all the tests required to become a fully fledged explorer?
Year 6 will be taking part in lots of challenging and exciting activities as they stud Antarctica - a natural reserve,
devoted to peace and science.
