On behalf of my staff, governors and myself, I would like to thank you for the fantastic parent and carers’ efforts to keep their families safe. I know that many of you will be worried about your children. I absolutely share your concerns and, sadly, can't stop you from worrying but I can assure that Shanklea staff will do everything that we can to support you.

We share your frustration in regards to ‘log ins’ but teaching resources are available. This is a reminder that the tasks that we are setting on School 360 or in the homework books are not compulsory. Any online tasks are there for at least a week or more and are there just to help you with any home learning. We understand that many of you will be working from home yourselves and have family commitments and we don't want to make you feel anxious about home learning.

The Secretary of State said last week, it is '... not an educational setting but a safe place' that we have been asked to try to provide. Every child who can be safely cared for at home should be. The fewer children making the journey to school, and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society.

Families are vital to the country’s response to this crisis, and we offer our full support and gratitude during this difficult time. We are keenly aware of the extraordinary measures that have been taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
